Swissjobtracker.ch launched

The NRP 77 project "What workers want" achieved a milestone.

The first version of www.swissjobtracker.chExternal Link Icon is online. The website makes it possible to monitor the Swiss labour market in real time. The dashboard provides data on and visualises the development of almost all jobs advertised on Swiss job portals and company websites - on a weekly basis. The vacancies can be broken down by industry, occupational field and canton.

"The advantage of the data compared to other job market indicators is that it is available much faster. This makes it possible to continuously monitor the dynamics on the labour market. The Covid crisis in particular has shown how important high-frequency data are for labour market monitoring. Currently, for example, it is interesting to observe whether the expected cooling on the Swiss job market after the record summer will occur or not" states Project manager Dr. Michael Siegenthaler.

The aim of the project is to better understand online job search. Among other things, the findings will be used to optimise the public employment service's job platform. The dashboard helps to analyse in real time in which regions and occupations the supply matches the demand and where it does not. The dashboard is the result of a collaboration between the KOF Swiss Economic Institute of the ETH Zurich, the University of Lausanne and the private company x28 AG.

As part of NRP 77, another dashboard is also being developed that analyses the skills contained in job advertisements in real time. We will report on this.
